The reason of the oblivion

Abstract

López (2017) hypothesizes that in modern science and economics we are undergoing a homogenization process. Economic currents are forced to be subordinated to the mathematical sciences. If an idea is not confirmed by mathematics, it ceases to be valid.

Lopez's hypothesis (2017) goes further. He believes that the history of economics and economic thought is suffering this "attack of mathematics". The first reason of the oblivion is the mathematics. If you did not use mathematics in your argument, you do not space in the signature.

José Duaso y Latre (1775-1849) was an economist and canon who lived the birth of the economy. In Spain He occupied different positions of power related to ecoonomy. He even wrote a book about taxes ("Vicios de la Contribucion Directa") whose arguments are transferable to the present. However, neither in the books of "Spanish Economic History" nor in the subject of "Economic Thought" does his name appear.

According to López (2017) this is due to the lack of mathematics in his book. This research recovers the life and work of José Duaso y Latre and studies the book according to the vision of López (2017); trying to discern if it has been forgotten because of mathematics or there are other reasons.
