Two examples of distant reading in the history of philosophy
Last modified: 2018-06-20
Abstract
The investigations described in this paper are part of a larger project, DR2 (Distant Reading andData-Driven Research in the History of Philosophy, University of Turin, dr2blog.hcommons.org),which aims at coordinating different research activities, in which Franco Moretti’s distant readingmethods are applied to the history of philosophy and, more in general, to the history of ideas. They are to be intended as examples of how such methods may usefully interact with more traditionalmethods in the history of philosophy, resulting in a more or less deep revision of the received views.
